Take a tour!

140 characters or less

Social Media has become a world of 140 characters or less, and not just on Twitter.  To prove my point I've given myself 10 minutes or less to create this blog post.  The clock started 45 seconds ago.

I had breakfast with Trey Tipton of http://www.eCompliments.com - a great website focused on creating good reviews - several weeks ago at Michaelangelos in Norman OK.  In learning about each other's businesses, it came up that while eCompliments allows reviews longer than 140 characters, the majority are less than 144 characters.  Should this affect the way you communicate with your customers?

Time is the most valuable resource any of us have, 140 characters or less forces us to be more concise with what we say.  Make it a part of your marketing check-list to ensure everything you write is clear, concise and no longer than it has to be to accurately make your point.  This breviety helps the odds that your message is read in the first place, who is really going to read 6 paragraphs, and gives visitors to your website an immediate snapshot of how your product or service can meet their needs.

8 minutes has passed and my blog post is complete...see it doesn't take all day to update your website.
